According to the announcement issued by the Ministry of information and communications (MIC) of Vietnam, from July 2021, all mobile communication devices produced or imported in Vietnam must support 4G or above network technology.

This means that 2G or 3G devices will be phased out. At present, 2G or 3G devices can still be used normally in Vietnam. However, according to the notice, Vietnam will not approve the license of new 2G or 3G technology after September 2024, and the license cannot be renewed after expiration.

Therefore, manufacturers preparing to launch relevant equipment to the Vietnamese market should make corresponding preparations in advance.
