Oman to expand RoHS restrictions

The Ministry of Commerce and industry of Oman recently issued a decree stipulating that telecommunications equipment and medical equipment must comply with the RoHS restricted substances and the maximum concentration allowed by weight in homogeneous materials in EU ROHS directive 2011 / 65 / EU (as amended by directive (EU) 2015 / 863 and directive (EU) 2017 / 2012).
The following requirements are specified in the document:
-Cadmium (0.01%)
-Lead (0.1%)
-Mercury (0.1%)
-Hexavalent chromium (0.1%)
-Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) (0.1%)
-Polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) (0.1%)
-Di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) (0.1%)
-Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP) (0.1%)
-Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) (0.1%)
-Diisobutyl phthalate (DiBP) (0.1%)
The Ministry of Commerce and industry of Oman proposes to allow medical devices and telecommunications equipment to be put on the Omani market only when they prove that they meet the restricted substance requirements of the RoHS directive. The Ministry plans to pass the decree in December 2021 and enter into force in July 2022.
