Saudi Arabia launches new air conditioning standards

SASO recently announced the new requirements and implementation schedule of the new air conditioning standard SASO 2663:2021 "minimum energy consumption performance, labeling and testing requirements for low number window and single split air conditioners". This standard will completely replace SASO 2663:2018 standard.  

The new energy label of air conditioner shall also include the following information:  

-  Seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER) level  

- Rated SEER value (BTU / W.H)  

An example label is as follows:  

SASO will accept SEER application from November 1, 2021, but the manufacturer still has a transition period until April 1, 2022. According to the notice, from April 2022, all EER certificates will be terminated, and the products shipped by local production lines and Saudi customs need to be labeled with a new version. Please note that if you already have EER certificate, in order to make the registration still valid, you need to apply for the update of the new standard to obtain the seer label. If you want to change the default parameters, you also need to provide specific test reports. SASO plans to put new labels on all air conditioners sold in KSA market in Saudi Arabia from July 1, 2022.
