Brazil ANATEL certification - new requirements for RF module - International Certification Update - Guangzhou Chenhe Quality Inspection Technology Co., Ltd.

On October 7, 2022, Brazil ANATEL released a new notice Official letter N º 218/2022, which provides new procedures and requirements for the application and certification of RF module products.

The new procedure is summarized as follows:

Type of equipment used by RF module	Removable or pluggable RF module	Non removable or pluggable RF module (integrated in host PCB)*
Non communication equipment (such as TV, medical, household, lamps, etc.)	RF modules must obtain ANATEL certification, and the final equipment used by them can voluntarily apply for ANATEL certification	The final equipment used must apply for ANATEL certification separately
Non communication equipment mainly used for RF function (intended use)	The final equipment used must apply for ANATEL certification separately	The final equipment used must apply for ANATEL certification separately
Communication equipment	The final equipment used must apply for ANATEL certification separately**	The final equipment used must apply for ANATEL certification separately

*Non detachable module: RF circuit is a part of the main board circuit and cannot be detached.

**New procedure: I f the final equipment has multiple RF module suppliers with the same specification/technology (if they are pin to pin, the circuit diagram/PCB does not change), all modules can be approved in the same certificate, but all of them need to be tested.

The final product using the ANATEL certification module can use the certification information of the module according to the provisions in the notice N º 218/2022, including:
-Correct identification of the module and its ANATEL certification number;
-Reference in the manual, quick start guide or on final product stating "The technical evaluation of the module, model XXXX, was not carried out, since it is approved under the approval code HHHH-AA-FFFF."

-The final product must contain the following information: "This certificate is linked to the validity of the approval certificate of the RF module, model XXXXX, approved under the code NNNNN-AA-FFFFF.".
