GEMS 2022 resolution in Australia stipulates the minimum energy efficiency standard (MEPs) level and test requirements for air conditioners with rated power above 65 kW, which will be implemented from October 1, 2022. The current requirements for energy consumption products in Australia and New Zealand are based on the energy efficiency (energy use products) regulations established in the greenhouse and energy minimum standards (GEMS) act 2012 and the equipment energy efficiency plan (E3).
The resolution applies to single-phase and three-phase air conditioners with air‑to‑air heat exchange and single or multi-body split outdoor units with rated standard cooling power, or pure heating products with rated standard heating power greater than 65kW.
Please note that from October 1, 2022, all air conditioning models with a rated power of more than 65 kW must be registered, and can only be sold in Australia and New Zealand after registration.
