What impact EU regulation 2019 / 1020 will have on Chinese manufacturers

EU regulation 2019 / 1020 comes into force on July 16, 2021, and some previous clauses (29, 30, 31, 32, 33 and 36) have come into force on January 1, 2021. The Regulation establishes rules and procedures for importers or local economic operators, establishes a system of cooperation with regulatory authorities, and controls products imported into the EU.  

This means that if Chinese manufacturers want to enter the EU market, they must have relevant local representatives in the EU to cooperate with the EU market supervision. The local representative can be the authorized representative of Chinese manufacturers in the EU, such as importers or distributors, or an authorized professional third-party company.

In addition, after brexit, on January 1, 2022, the UK also began to implement this provision, that is, Chinese manufacturers exported to the UK must also have authorized local representatives in the UK to cooperate with the supervision of the local government
